Teen Health and Wellness Adds Content on Green Living, Obesity, Other Critical Topics; Offers Greater Functionality for Increased Customization

Personal Story Project, Reading List Feedback Feature Allow Teens and Staff to Interact with Database

NEW YORK CITY, NY – January 14, 2009 – Rosen Online, a division of Rosen Publishing, a leading K-12 educational publisher, is pleased to announce the addition of new content to its award-winning Teen Health & Wellness electronic resource in several ‘hot topic’ areas including green living and obesity. The database tackles these urgent issues by offering a new section on green / environmentally-friendly living, as well as expanded coverage on obesity for teens. Other new entries include enhanced coverage of issues such as autism, sickle cell anemia, school violence, and domestic violence. School and public libraries report an increased demand for concise and well-researched information on these critical subjects, and Teen Health & Wellness provides anytime, anywhere access for teens and young adults searching for help.

Teen Health & Wellness now also allows users to interact with the database in new and exciting ways. The Personal Story Project invites young adults to contribute their own story about successfully dealing with or overcoming a challenge in their lives. Writers of stories selected for publication on Teen Health & Wellness receive a letter of commendation from Rosen Publishing and a gift certificate to Barnes & Noble. To date, numerous stories from teens across the United States have been published on the site and deal with issues ranging from alcohol abuse to scoliosis to eating disorders. In addition, teens and librarians can now customize database reading lists to include their favorite titles. They can suggest both fiction and nonfiction books to be added to each subject entry’s recommended reading list.

To serve the unique needs of its customers, Rosen has also made virtually all Teen Health & Wellness promotional materials, such as bookmarks and access cards, completely customizable, allowing libraries to easily add their library URL and login information. “Libraries realize that they need to make a connection with their users in order to alert them to the vast variety of resources being offered,” states Miriam Gilbert, Rosen Online director of sales and marketing. “Our customers have seen usage stats go up following Teen Health & Wellness marketing done online and via their own Web sites. We created this promotional kit to make it easy to put a campaign into place.” Customized webinar trainings are also available from Rosen Online.
